Having used oHin for almost year, even though I did not use their US chemicals recommendations, I still managed the upkeep of my Spa water quality and with very little effort. It was after oHin unceremoniously exit that brought me to realization that I had to no choice to find a similar alternative.
The Eco Start by iopool was the only product that appeared to be a close alternative! It has now EXCEEDED my expectations.
Bottom line, nothing is perfect, but because I have owned my Spa for over 5 years and I know the nuances of water care. I really don't need any serious help nor technical support using the product. The app still needs work to be more user friendly, and they need to remove restrictions to include all their available products that they stock for their US clients, for clients like myself who would like to use iopool sensor in Canada.
Now, I'm over a month into owning the product and I must say that I'm very IMPRESSED with it. I find it BETTER to use compared oHin, even though I won't be buying chemicals through iopool. It doesn't make economical since us Canadians still have to pay duties and tarrifs, even though we have NAFTA with the US.
FYI, in addition to buying item in US dollars converted to Canadian, this most recent shipment will cost me an additional $52 Canadian on top of my bill for the two items ordered. I just write it off as peace of mind, rather the aggravation of being a mad scientist when it comes to water quality.
Hopefully, when my bridge in a few days I will likely comment on that and having the ability to check on the quality of the water in my Spa anywhere in the world. This is what I'm accustomed to with oHin, was a product that is reliable, easy to use, and precise.
Received a replacement unit and it is working very good once again. Thank you!
Received non-working gateway device. Very disappointing.
Once the old monitor started to fail the new one came in and I’m back up and running
We love the convenience that the ioPool/EcO offers with one exception: Due to us using it in a commercial pool, our US State issued final order granting petition for a permanent variance for the testing application/system doesn't yet exist. Therefore, we are forced to continue using old fashioned manual paper and pen to record chemical levels, putting us at risk of abnormal violations.
